Newsgroups use the NNTP protocol, and are viewed in a purpose-created
newsreader. Discussion Forums could also be considered to be another word
for the same thing; but in my opinion, forums are more usually Web-based,
and are viewed in a browser. In Exchange, Public Folder can be used as a
source for newsgroups; but I would say that the term 'Discussion Forums' is
not so easily to PFs. You could say that the OWA interface to PFs can be
used as a Web-based Discussion Group, but I think that is stretching the
term somewhat. You could use Outlook with PFs as a kind of closed
Discussion Group.
