Hello all:

Environment is Exchange 2003 SP2 with ScanMail running scan engine
8.7. I need to create a report of all messages with attachments
scanned on our Exchange servers, with full details such as file size
and type. So I'm poking around in the reports section to create this
report, but the reports only tell me how many attachments were
scanned, with none of the details that I need.

Anyone know if it is possible to access the information I'm looking
for?

Thanks!

Take a look here:

Promodag seems a popular choice around here.

Addtionally you may want to speak to the vendors of Scanmail.

Im not really sure how SM came into play for the OP. The reports are based
on SM options.
Messages scanned, virus's blocked, spam blocked, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I had brought up ScanMail because I'm new to this application and
wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. And was
hoping for an off chance that the information I'm looking for is
stored somewhere that is not as easily accessible, perhaps from a
command line/scripting interface that I wasn't aware of.

Scanmail is just looking at its own log files.
You need something that is going to look at the Exchange logs.

Right, but since the ScanMail console shows the number of messages
scanned and some other general info, I was hoping it also kept more
details on the messages and attachments. I've been digging into this a
bit more over the past few days and it *seems* that ScanMail is only
recording information pertaining to infections or problems. I can find
info on a few virus emails that made it in, and it has plenty of info
about messages that could not be scanned due to size or password
protection. But no dice on just doing general reporting on all
messages.

Scanmail stores it's logs in a SQL database. Perhaps you could query that.

I found the databases where this info is being logged. They are MS
Access DBs in C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Smex\data. They are very
small and limited in what they record, which is only when there is an
infected message, or when it cannot scan a pw protected file.
